I have always been interested in things that others would consider strange or marginal. Maybe that is why I enjoyed them the most. When most people wanted to study English, I chose Finno-Ugric Studies. When most of my classmates in law school saw their future in civil law, I was attracted to environmental law. Perhaps it is also because I have always been more technically oriented, and therefore I was more interested in the legal regulation of nuclear or other waste, the regulation of chemical substances and the prevention of major accidents, issues related to railway sidings or the arms trade, than in disputes between neighbours or mergers and acquisitions. I can still draw on the experience I gained during my time at the Ministry of the Environment in my current legal practice, helping clients navigate the most intricate situations in various areas of environmental protection.
